The Journey

From Himec to Hisland: A Journey of Resilience

Our Founders

We’re just two guys from Hisingen. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Growing up on this island in Göteborg’s heart taught us everything we needed to know about resilience, adaptation, and the power of community. We watched Hisingen experience glory in the shipbuilding era, face devastation when the industry collapsed, then reinvent itself with new industries and renewed purpose.

That cycle – rise, fall, adaptation, comeback – became our blueprint.

The Handball Lesson

Our story really begins on a handball court. We weren’t the tallest players. We weren’t the fastest. We didn’t have the best fitness. On paper, we had no business being one of Sweden’s best junior teams.

But we had Per-Anders Lindfeldt.

Per-Anders was more than a coach – he was a leader who understood something profound: the whole can be far greater than the sum of its parts. He didn’t just drill techniques; he built a team culture where every player knew their role, trusted each other completely, and played with a shared purpose.
Twenty seconds left in a crucial match. Score tied. Per-Anders gave the signal. Everyone knew exactly what to do. The play we’d practiced hundreds of times unfolded perfectly – not because we were talented individually, but because we functioned as one organism. When that final shot hit the back of the net, we erupted. Not because we’d won, but because we’d proven what’s possible when people work together toward something bigger than themselves.

That lesson became Hisland’s DNA.

From Hisingen to the World

We started Himec Engineering in the late ’90s with a simple belief: engineering excellence requires more than technical skills. It requires leadership, emotional intelligence, and genuine human connection.

As mechanical engineers ourselves, we understood the technical side. But we’d learned from Per-Anders that great outcomes come from great teams. So from day one, we focused on developing not just engineers, but leaders. Not just consultants, but ambassadors.
When we expanded into software and systems, becoming Hisland Solutions, that philosophy deepened. We created what became the Dynalope training program – transforming engineers into Hislanders who think like entrepreneurs, communicate across cultures, and lead from wherever they stand.

Then came COVID-19. And bankruptcy.

Like Hisingen itself, we faced our crisis. It would have been easier to walk away. But quitting isn’t the Hisingen way. We regrouped, learned, adapted, and came back as Hisland Sweden – leaner, wiser, more focused on what truly matters.

Jorgen Bjork

Founder & CEO

Jörgen Björk didn’t set out to build a consulting company. He set out to prove that engineering excellence requires more than technical skills—it requires leadership, resilience, and genuine human connection.
Growing up on Hisingen, Jörgen learned about adaptation early. He watched the island transform from shipbuilding powerhouse to abandoned dockyards to thriving innovation hub. That cycle—rise, fall, reinvention—became his blueprint.

OUR VISION

We’re building more than a consulting company. We’re building a platform where ambitious people can grow, where innovative ideas can flourish, and where technology serves humanity’s real needs.
We believe in:

  • People over profits – Success follows when you invest in human development
  • Adaptation over rigidity – The world changes fast; we change faster
  • Community over individualism – We rise together or not at all
  • Purpose over prestige – Making a positive impact matters more than looking impressive

From our roots on Hisingen to clients across continents, we carry the island’s spirit: resilient, adaptive, and always focused on what comes next.

We’re still just two guys from Hisingen. But now we’re building something that helps others realize their own potential.

And that’s exactly what Per-Anders taught us to do.

MISSION

We create attractive possibilities for innovations and entrepreneurship by stimulating people's passion for technology that leads to a good cause.

Vision

To develop new technology that has a positive impact on everyone.

WHY

We focus on people with ambition to contribute to a better world through useful innovations and charming solutions.
The Hisland Way

Correct. Creative. Charismatic.

These three words define everything we do – how we work, how we communicate, how we show up for clients and each other. They’re not aspirational. They’re operational.

Together, They're Unstoppable

Correct without creative becomes rigid. Creative without correct becomes unreliable. Either without charismatic becomes cold.
But together? That’s the magic.

That’s a team that delivers exceptional work (Correct) through innovative approaches (Creative) while building relationships that last (Charismatic).

That’s Hisland.

The Hislander Culture

Högt i Tak: Room to Rise

There’s a Swedish expression that doesn’t quite translate: högt i tak – literally “high ceiling,” but meaning so much more.
It means creating space where everyone can stand tall. Where strong personalities aren’t just tolerated but celebrated. Where disagreement is welcomed because it leads to better solutions. Where you can speak your mind without fear, bring your whole self to work, and know you’ll be heard.

At Hisland, högt i tak isn’t just philosophy – it’s practice.

Our team comes from Sweden, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Zambia, and beyond. Different backgrounds, different perspectives, different ways of seeing problems. That diversity isn’t a challenge to manage – it’s our competitive advantage.

The best idea wins, regardless of who suggests it. A junior engineer’s insight matters as much as a founder’s. We’ve changed direction because someone spoke up. And we’re better for it.

We’ve been bankrupt. We’ve made mistakes. We don’t hide from them – we examine them, learn from them, and become stronger because of them. If you’re not failing occasionally, you’re not pushing hard enough.

Through Dynalope training, mentorship, challenging projects, and genuine support, we invest in developing you as a whole person – not just as an employee. Your success is our success.

Högt i tak means respecting that you have a life outside work. We don’t glorify overtime. We celebrate efficiency, focus, and going home on time to what matters most.

In an environment with högt i tak, people don’t just do their jobs – they bring their best selves. They take initiative. They suggest improvements. They challenge assumptions. They care deeply because they know they’re valued deeply.

That’s not soft management. That’s how you build a team that can tackle anything.

Swedish workplaces have understood this for generations. We’re proud to carry that tradition forward while bringing our own Hisingen-inspired edge: resilient, adaptive, and always pushing forward.

The Result
When you work at Hisland, you’re not just accepted – you’re celebrated for who you are. Your unique strengths, your different perspective, your personal style – they all have room here.
Because högt i tak isn’t about everyone being the same. It’s about everyone having space to be extraordinary.
